Shimano wanted design a more effective, user-driven learning platform for its partner mechanics in 11 countries. The challenge was to answer 3 questions:
- Who are the different bicycle mechanics in terms of knowledge profiles?
- What do they need, how do they learn best and what motivates them?
- What is their current experience with the Shimano platform—and how can it be improved?
The outcome
The extensive research – combining a quantitative study in 11 countries with live 5hellos sessions in 3 key countries – gave robust answers and delivered these key outcomes.
- Psychographic profiles of the mechanics to inform design
- Navigation structure & content specs for platform design
- Marketing ideas to reach and engage different mechanic types
- Briefing for the design and development agency
